The host of a paranormal investigation show? For REBOOT? The worst TV station EVER?!
Not the career move that reporter Irene Waters ever wanted, but with a scandal now on her resume she can't be picky. So teamed with a cameraman who thinks he’s seen it all, they are sent to a rumored haunted house called Hurtleberry.
With a name like that who wouldn't be terrified?
Things soon take a turn for the weird, just not the kind of weird they were expecting. But it's interesting, and might even be dangerous.
Still, if they pull it off The Reboot Team might actually get a good story out of it.
If the story doesn't get them first.

Irene Waters is trying to recover after being fired from her former job. She’s devastated after being wrongly accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a top executive, and has now moved on to a newer and much less glamorous position as the host of a low-budget ghost adventure show. As a devout Christian, Irene’s position is to function as the show’s resident skeptic. Irene and cameraman, Troy, are dispatched to their first paranormal investigation. Will Irene become a paranormal believer, or will she be able to get to the bottom of what’s really going on at the Hurtleberry House?

I enjoyed this book. It had a reasonable amount of suspense to keep me reading along. It’s definitely heavy on religion and Biblical scripture (it's a Christian Mystery after all), so readers may either love or hate this depending upon their own beliefs.

Since this is the first book in the Reboot Series, and it’s currently free, I think it’s an excellent way for readers to decide if they’re willing to read the entire series. It’s short – just 116 pages and things move along at a nicely brisk pace. The writing is charming and engaging. Recommended!

The Mystery of Hurtleberry House The Reboot Files Book 1 edition by CL Ragsdale Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

A wonderful read for Christians who enjoy a good mystery. Once I read up to the third chapter, I had a feeling I knew where the plot would lead; however, that's to be expected in a "cozy". And, as with any "cozy" mystery, reader's won't find any graphic violence or foul language, which would make this book an acceptable read for both adults and teens. CL Ragsdale combined an intriguing plot with realistic characters to create a work of Christian fiction worthy of recognition within the circle of both Christian readers and authors. - Sheila Rae Myers, Author
I found myself waiting in a doctor's office with nothing but sports magazines to read. So, I popped open my , saw this book and was intrigued by the cover.

It had been quite a while since I undertook reading a mystery and I was not disappointed!

A very well told story with twists that one did not expect, with more than one powerful message enclosed within its pages. The most powerful one for me was one of judging others. I'm not going to give the story away, but I will tell you that I feel this book should be read by all who love a good mystery and love Jesus with all their hearts!
Had fun reading this. No blood and gore, clean. It is also a neat little pseudo paranormal mystery. I am deducting one star for usage. Please, please, look up the usage of "then" and "than." They are not the same. It is an error that grates like fingernails on a blackboard. I would not have deducted the star if I found only one or two misuses, but it was too consistent to be just a typo.

Good little mystery. I liked the main character, but am a little undone with the potential of the "secretary." Not necessary. These books don't need the addition of a malevolent background character. They are good on their own. The doctrine was not forced, but fitted nicely into the story.
The Mystery of Hurtleberry House by C.L. Ragsdale was a fun read. It is short, but just the right length for the story. I feel it is great having eBooks so that more books can be published that don't meet the length requirements of print publishing.

TV cameraman, Troy Stenson is teamed up with reporter Irene Waters to investigate what is going on at Hurtleberry House. The people they meet and what they discover takes the reader on an exciting ride.

This is advertised to be Christian fiction and I am the author of Christian fiction as well, but I feel the author could soften it some and still get the points across. Show Christians living their lives, but don't preach.

This is book #1 in the Reboot Files series so I'll be reading more from this author.
This is a Christian cozy mystery. The story was good, I gave it three stars rather than four because of a few issues. As other reviewers have mentioned there are some typos and editing problems but not severe. The christian message in it was a little bit heavy and could use some finesse. The Great Aunt Myrtle's sayings joke got old fast. I also had trouble keeping the sisters straight, Jessica and Jennifer, names are too similar, had to keep going back to figure out which was the good one and which was the evil one. I recommend reading it and will look for the authors later works, this appears to be the first book in a series and often those are the least mature.
Okay, I was surprised to admit I liked this one. I didn't expect much going in, but as short as the book was, there was a lot packed in. The characters were realistic and the humor strong, with a subtle Christian message woven throughout. Though the mystery wasn't hard for me to solve, it kept me gripped to my until 340 in the morning, on a work day! If I wind up reading any of the sequels, I'll make certain I do it on my day off!
Reporter Irene Waters is restarting her career at Reboot after a scandal at her former place of employment. She is sent with camera man Troy Stenson to investigate the story of Hurtleberry House. Legend has it that it was built by an old miser of a man who built it out of spite to appease his spoiled wife. A distant relative of the man has inherited the house and she wants to get in touch with any spirits that live in the house.

We get a little back ground on Irene's story. About her sick mom. About why she had to leave the Christian TV station she worked at before Reboot. We get a few references to her Christian beliefs.

The book has less than a 100 pages, so it's a quick read. Looks like there are other books in this series.
